Crown Shyness

Crown shyness is a phenomenon creates a gap between the canopy of the trees, which inhibits the spread of insects and increases light transmittance. Like a bridge, this gap is a connection between trees and makes a conversation between them.
There exist many hypotheses as to why crown shyness is an adaptive behaviour, and research suggests that it might inhibit spread of leaf-eating insect larvae.
When I entered the forest, I accidentally observed various forms between the canopy of each tree and took some photos.
I want people to pay more attention to this interesting phenomenon, and this distance is much like that of interpersonal relationships. We all know that 'distance produce beauty', so this kind of distance also exists in these canopies. With this distance, the canopies can grow more friendly, which could be explained as shy or modest.
I divided this photo into two coloraturas blocks by using Photoshop, white and black. The white part is canopies, the black is the gap between each tree. This is done to make people focus on the gap.
This pattern was printed on transparent paper, then stuck on the form board, and finally I stuck them on the celling.
